*Characters already in the game: N/A
Character Information
*Character Name: Sky-Byte
*Character Canon: Transformers comics by IDW
*Age: Multiple centuries, middle-aged for a Cybertronian
*Race: Cybertronian
*Timeline/Pull Point: After his first appearance
*History: Under "IDW comics continuity"
*Personality: Sky-Byte is above all a storyteller and a poet - a creative soul. His perspective on and self-imposed exile from the war have led to his focusing on these creative outlets, which he pursues in order to find a purpose as a Transformer without faction or loyalty. In short, Sky-Byte creates in order to find himself.
Because of his status as a turncoat from the Decepticons, Sky-Byte is wary of others - Decepticons, because he betrayed them, and Autobots, because he was once their enemy. He's reluctant to become affiliated with any one faction, as he's unsure of whether or not he wants to be associated with their policies. That said, he does sympathize with his fellow Decepticons to a degree, and is capable of forming friendships with Autobots if the possibility presents itself, as shown by his willingness to perform with Jazz and his setting aside of his rivalry with Ironhide.
That said, while there's a cynical side to Sky-Byte, he's also much more light hearted than other Decepticons might be. Furthermore, he has a set of morals, that while capable of being compromised, does not afford atrocities like the ones committed by the Constructicons on Varas Centralus. Make no mistake, though - he is a former Decepticon, and when put in a dangerous situation, he may do dangerous or ruthless things in order to survive.
*Powers/Abilities: Sky-Byte's primary ability is his power to transform into a flying robotic space shark. In this form, he has aerial mobility, crushing jaws, and torpedo launchers hidden in his maw. The nature of his alternate mode makes him amphibious as well. In robot mode, he's unable to fly, but possesses a powerful crushing "anchor arm" that resembles a multi-pronged claw, as well as the ability to fire a blast of energy from a focusing crystal on his chest. In accordance with his sense of theatricality, he refers to it as his "Tsunami Blaster."
- Note that these abilities are pure speculation and derived from his Animated series counterpart, who he highly resembles and shares many of the same features with.
*Inventory: The sole item Sky-Byte will be arriving with is the disembodied head of a Sweep, which he uses as a point of reflection when constructing his poems.
*Starting Polarity: Trionic Polarity
If AU, how does your character differ from canon?: N/A
Writing Samples
*First Person Sample: [video]
[a certain fishy-looking former-Decepticon appears on screen. It appears he doesn't quite realize where he is yet.]
Erm, excuse me? This is most peculiar, but it seems I've been transported out of the limits of Iacon... which I have to say is a question I want answered as soon as possible. I thought I was done with things like this, after that business with Swindle and Prowl.
[Sky-Byte moves as if he were checking over something as he talks]
Seriously, is this happening to anyone else?! Jazz, I'm afraid I'm going to end up missing our performance tonight, because the first thing I'm doing once I get back is giving Bumblebee and Metalhawk a piece of my mind...
[his optics widen in surprise and realization]
...
Wait.
What in Primus's name is all this?! Who are you people?! Where am I?! If I don't start getting answers right now, I'll...
[Sky-Byte stops, sighs, and grows more reserved, while maintaining a scowl on his face]
Hrn.
I suppose I should wait for someone to actually explain something before I... fly off the handle...
*Third Person Sample:
"Barren world, ripped away
All I knew is gone, barely witnessed
Story starts anew."
Sky-Byte frowned to himself as he flew over the strange, rocky terrain he'd come on-line in. Just when he'd started to get settled on the newly reborn Cybertron, here he'd found himself in a strange place under an unfamiliar sky. He flew steadily over the landscape in his beast mode, the only sound being the noise made by his tail rotor and Sky-Byte composing poems to himself.
At the very least, the situation he was in was providing a significant amount of material for his inner muse.
Sky-Byte had thought his days of wandering to be over. Yes, coming to Cybertron had resulted in his nearly being executed by Prowl and his police force, but at least there was something resembling stability. As much stability in a situation where Swindle of all Decepticons was telling the truth, anyway. And there had at least been Maccaddam's, and his opportunities to perform alongside Jazz...
But now... now he didn't even know what had happened to him or how he'd even gotten on this planet. It almost resembled the areas outside of Iacon... the raw, reborn Cybertron... but somehow, Sky-Byte didn't think he'd been taken there. The stars were all wrong, for one. This wasn't Cybertron, or at the very least, not the one he knew.
The one he knew...
No. That was too preposterous a thought to consider. The realm of stories for newly sparked mechlings.
It was better to focus on the kinds of stories that didn't make one feel like they'd gone insane, Sky-Byte resolved to himself. And so, he flew on, hoping to find a source of life.
